Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/04/2010

Number: 1

6:38 AM - Male Ruby throated - neck not bright red yet. In this area the first hummer is usually around 4/15 - they are very very late. Interestingly he came to an ORIOLE feeder instead of any of the 4 hummingbird window feeders, or the hanging bright red strawberry. Same feeding solution, filled the same day. Hopefully there will be more. This is my 7th feeding season and normally there are at least 3 males here by now to attract the ladies. I hope my flock didn't get wiped out in last fall's storms as they migrated south.
