Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/05/2010

Number: 1

Sighted at 6:15 p.m., landing on a Japanese Tree Peony. I ran to get the camera and when I got back, it wasn't there. I'm sure I may see it again, since we are a Certified Monarch Waystation and grow lots of milkweed and nectar plants in our gardens. We are in rural farm country.

we've had a LOT of Red Admirals here as well. I started seeing those several weeks ago. Not as many American Ladies, but some of those as well. And the Cabbage Whites have been here since before the Red Admirals. They're always here in abundance.

Yes, absolutely sure it was a Monarch. I've reported on Monarchs may times on my blog, Our Little Acre, and there are many photos of them in various stages of development there.
