Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/06/2010

Number: 1

I felt I needed a new feeder for this current season, and I was able to find one that had a nifty new design (It is about eight inches in diameter and about two inches thick, and it is flat. At first glance out my front window, the feeder looks like an alien space ship, lol.)

Near the end of April I filled the feeder with boiled sugar-water and positioned it for best viewing while watching T.V. It was only today (05/06/10) that I got my first sighting of a hummingbird, and I think it was a ruby throat. I determined that I still need to have my little pair of binoculars at hand so I can make better observations in the future. But the fact that they are starting to arrive is very thrilling to me. And, so far, this sighting was the only one. And I'll need another feeder for sure.
