Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/10/2010

Number: 1

We spotted our first Monarch of the year! The first graders were out for recess and spotted it. They came running in to my second grade class yesterday and were announcing it's arrival. "Miss McDonnel, your butterfly is here!" Needless to say, reading was done for a while until we got settled back down!

Yes, I’m sure that it was a Monarch butterfly. Our first grade teachers also raise monarchs and they were outside with the children for recess. She saw the monarch and sent the children in. She knows what they look like compared to American Ladies& Red Admirals.
