Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/13/2010

Number: 1

One, lone Monarch fluttered by my window. Looked healthy, bright-colors. Wish I were happier to see it though---we have no milkweed around yet and minimal sources for nectar and the near freezing temps. at nite are to continue for a few days yet.

I realize it was a very odd for me to sight one Monarch. Especially since I'd seen none before nor after. But I'm certain it was a Monarch. After raising and releasing hundreds and hundreds of Monarchs, working at a local Nature Reserve in the Butterfly Lab and House, I know my 'friend', the Monarch.
