Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/25/2010

Number: 1

We saw record highs in the 90s the last two days so it was no surprise to see my first adult monarch of the season swooping in for a drink on the stiff muggy southern breezes. This was a lone tattered and very faded adult, fluttering low and landing near the water spigots and hoses flowing at the sub section track meet in Brooklyn Center. Here's hoping more adults will continue to push northward and find the fresh 6 to 10 inch milkweed plants that have emerged on the east side of my house.
