Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/26/2010

Number: 1

At 10AM, today, I spotted a beautiful, large, pristine monarch in my neighbor's yard. While it looked darker in coloring (a lot of females are darker than males), I will not guess on it's sex, as it flew out of sight too quickly (and I was driving in the opposite direction).

Yesterday, I found and reported my first monarch egg sighting, but have not found any more today.

Also found a *bunch* of red admiral eggs on our stinging nettle two days ago, and one painted lady egg on everlasting, though no PL adults have been spotted. Our lilacs failed to produce the normal abundance of flowers..., so we have seen less of a variety of butterflies in our yard, this year.
