Yesterday, Wednesday May 26, we spotted our first two monarchs of the season just outside of Ottawa near the town of Metcalfe. Both were still small and brightly colored, one male, one female. There is no milkweed up yet, only sprouts maybe 4� tall although with record high temperatures for the past three days (33 � 34 Celsius), everything seems to be growing incredibly fast.
