Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/23/2010

Number: 1

We have seen Red Admirals for several weeks now, but tonight we saw our first monarch flittering through our yard. Our children were able to see the difference in size between the two butterflies. Later in the week we had many monarchs drinking nectar from the blossoms in our backyard! Garrett caught a monarch in his butterfly net and we're keeping it in a habitat with orange slices to observe for a day.
