I saw my first monarch adult today, a male in fresh condition nectaring on a bank of Viper's Bugloss blooms, in the southeastern part of West Virginia No eggs seen yet. There are buds on much of the A. syriaca and A. exaltata and the A. purpurascens is blooming. Many butterflies, especially great spangled fritillaries, nectaring on blooming Viper's Bugloss and wild coreopsis.
