Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 06/02/2010

Number: 1

This morning at 8:15 AM my husband, Jack, and I saw a ruby- throated hummingbird at our feeder in the back yard. It hovered in the "yellow flower" (one of four) in our feeder. The "food" is one part sugar to three parts water. I had boiled it until the sugar dissolved, let it cool, and then filled the feeder. Interestingly the monarch which came to our backyard on May 24 checked out the other type of feeder we have---a slotted opening but with the same solution. Both feeders do have red plastic as part of feeder.
