I was outside all day Sunday tending to my garden. I have lots of milkweed that are all flowering and that is unheard of for me, it usually doesn't get a chance to flower; I also have many flowering nectar plants -- but no Monarchs. I do not see any sign of any eggs, or any indication that something hatched and ate. I am seeing a large number of wasps and predators that hover around my garden looking for a sweet meal.
I don't think I have ever gone this long without seeing Monarchs in my garden. I am seeing Giant Swallowtail and Black Swallowtail and other smaller variets, but no Monarchs. Where are they, did they all head North, what happened to our overwinterers?
