6/1/10 Female Black-chinned hummer visiting feeder and seems to have taken up residence in huge silver maple tree in yard this last week. Male Black-chinned hummer put on an impressive courting display this AM, right outside my kitchen window. Wow!!! Hopefully she approved - I was delighted!

I wonder where my Rufous hummer from last year is? She was a fiesty one! I hope she returns.

This is the earliest I have put out feeders. (I'm still a newbie) My huge, old trumpet vine doesn't bloom until July, so I usually don't see hummingbirds until then. I definitely will put feeders out earlier from now on. I don't want to miss all this fun!
