Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/24/2010

Number: 1

We recently planted a butterfly garden and stocked it with a lot of milkweed. About two weeks ago we found 9 monarch caterpillars on the plants and 3 eggs. All 9 of the caterpillars cocooned but 1 dropped and the liquid came out and one of the caterpillars attached but did not finish. Two of the remaining 7 have become butterflies and the eggs have turned into caterpillars. We live close to a wetland and I see the adult butterflies on occassion but not everyday
