My wife and I saw 3 Monarchs on May 28 and another on May 29. We haven't seen any since them. I have been checking milkweed in our meadow for eggs but have seen none. I think the Monarchs we saw were just passing through on their way farther north.

I collect lists of sightings from other members of the Rochester Butterfly Club. There have been very few Monarchs. The earliest reported to me was May 25.

Maybe this will be another year when the real influx of Monarchs is six weeks later than in past years.
