Saw two "new/first generation" monarchs on my butterfly bushes nectaring, a male and a female. You could tell they were recent generation, unfortunately, for two reasons. Their color was vibrant and the male monarch that had reccently emerged had one wing that didn't unfold correctly and was unable to fly. It seems so unfair with the small percentage of monarchs that make it to this point that they still encounter problems.
