Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/23/2010

Number: 1

We had one hummer come and look into our window as we had not put up a feed yet...We immediately put one up...We bought s few different feeders this year...I think we have 5 hummers now..In years past, the birds seemed to dive at each other more and only one at a time would eat....This year I see two hummers at the feeder at the same time...This is the first time this had happened and they are not as combative as in past years....I just wonder what is the differrence?? The feeder does seem to help and the birds seem calmer...

PS. The other day the feeder was empty and we did not know it... It is REALLY FUNNY to watch them when it's empty....They go around the feeder a few times and trying each opening...Then they go to the top of the feeder looking for food...Finally they come close to the window, hover, looking into the house..as if to say "Hey, The feeder needs filling"
