I heard a birdsong I had not heard before, singing energetically above me in a tall tree, as I was taking a walk early that Saturday morning. It was a male oriole, the first I've seen since living in northern VA, beginning in 2001. I heard it singing constantly all day Saturday and Sunday, then didn't see or hear another oriole until I saw a pair on an overhead wire early one morning this past week. Glad they have stayed to nest!
