Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/28/2010

Number: 1

I have spotted a few Monarchs in the last few days. Yesterday's single female was an older one. Today was the first I could verify second generation butterflies, two or three of them. In general, I don't think production has been good despite a promising beginning in May. I have spotted only a couple of larger caterpillars, and the droppings and eaten leaves on milkweeds have indicated very few surviving at the later stages. June has had rain 21 out of 28 days here.
