Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/12/2010

Number: 1

Just observed a Monarch laying eggs on milkweed in my backyard butterfly garden, while being harassed by a Gulf Fritillary. Something must be preying on the Monarch eggs, as I've found no larvae so far this spring or summer despite several incidents of egg laying. I've killed many assassin bugs on the milkweed, but there are numerous red wasps around. I won't kill them unless they become aggressive.
