Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/17/2010

Number: 1

We found about an acre of Swamp Milkweed, Asclepias incarnata in full bloom on the West branch of the Round Hill River and eventually saw 1 lone female Monarch nectaring. After an hour of searching only found 1 caterpillar.

This is the largest patch of Swamp milkweed we've ever seen! It was beautiful and full of bees but just a few unidentified butterflies.
