Not the first milkweed of the season of course, but we were on holiday in Medicine Hat, Alberta and I noticed loads of beautiful common milkweed, but with no evidence of monarch activity (eg. no chewed up leaves). I did receive one report of monarch larvae on milkweed near Medicine Hat on the Trans-Canada highway near the Alberta/Saskatchewan border.
