I found it quite ODD to see Monarchs this early in this location. This is something we usually see only during the fall migration south to Mexico.

We saw four very fresh, very active, Monarchs - one male and three females - nectaring happily on an abundant field of "Green Headed Coneflowers". The weather was warm - about 69 degrees - and the sky was partly cloudy. The elevation here is 5560 feet above sea level. The Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway is Caney Fork and the nearest town (in the valley below) is Sylva, NC. This is also near Maggie Valley. I have pictures.
