On Friday about 3 pm with fairly strong north-westerly winds and clouds approaching, 4 strong-flying monarchs passed by me on the north shore of Lake Ontario at Cobourg in a period of 10 minutes - with two flying one behind the other. All flying in the same direction - directly west along the shoreline.
Further west at Port Hope, Rod Parrott reported that about the same time, 4 fresh stribg flying monarchs had landed on his buddleia to feed.
Some migration is happening with some individuals of unknown origin. Friday night was cold...down to 50 F or 10 C in Cobourg, but this morning the temperatures were much warmer on awaking - back up to 20 C.
