Saw three adult monarchs of this early fall season. A female was laying eggs on our milkweed plants. Two monarchs were observed nectaring, one on our butterfly plant and another on the lantana plant.
Our milkweed plants really suffered this year from the orange aphids. Several plants died as the young foliage couldn't out-grow the aphid damage. I planted 32 new milkweed plants in the hopes they could leaf out before the monarchs normally get here (Aug. 20th).
