Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/11/2010

Number: 1

Observed three Monarchs this afternoon near Asclepius Tuberosa in my backyard. The first sighting was a solitary individual, sex unknown, alighting in various places here and there on the host plant. The time was about 3:00 pm.

An hour or so later, I observed two individuals engaging in what I would term "a mating flight," in the general vicinity of the same plant. That was about 5:00 pm.

Located a third chrysalis along the same stockade privacy fence, but have no idea when it went into that phase. It could have been there since the first two were noted on August 4th. I have already reported them to your site. There are still about fifteen larvae of various sizes on the Asclepius Tuberosa.
