Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/18/2010

Number: 1

While out to the Bald Eagle State Park beach area for an afternoon swim we saw five different monarchs during the four hour outing. Four of them were flitting across the highway in areas where milkweed lined the edges of the hwy. One landed on the sandy beach for a brief time and then flew on. We stopped along a park road to take a close look at the milkweed. Each plant that we investigated had small eggs attached to the leaves.
