Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/19/2010

Number: 1

We have two Ruby Throated males and two Ruby Throated females who are at our feeder all day long. We can tell the difference because one male and female will perch on the wire around the bottom of the feeder to drink. The other male and female flit and flutter above the tube to drink, never lighting on the rim. So, we lovingly call them the flitters and the sitters. :-) We have seen the two females much more within the last two weeks, drinking up a storm. Getting fat to make the trip home or feeding young? I have never located their nests. They fly away from the feeder in different directions each time.
