Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/20/2010

Number: 1

When I photographed the female rubythroat hummingbird coming to my feeder (from June 20th until the present), I discovered that she was the bird at my feeders in 2008! She has a dark spot under her chin that clearly identifies her as one and the same! She was on a regular 20-minute feeding schedule in 2008 and I nicknamed her "Scritchy" for the sound she made as she approached the feeder. Three years later, she visits every hour or so, but is silent as she feeds. This week she has appeared disheveled-her feathers don't seem sleek, but somewhat lumpy.
