Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/21/2010

Number: 50

The Monarchs are approx. 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Tonight they are gathering on the same maple tree as they have in years gone by. They accumulate all on one or two branches and this is the first we have seen them all season. Heavy rains are reported for tonight...not sure if their habit is related to this. I always look forward to saying goodbye to them and wish them luck on their journey south. Their numbers are down though this year. There are about 50 of them.
