We have been observing a male hummingbird feeding at a hummingbird feeder outside our window for the past few weeks. He fights off another hummingbird that tries to feed there. He has a special perch in a nearby tree that has a very small limb with no leaves. It has been very hot here, with temps over 100 during the afternoon. We switched the old, hot feed out with cool water and feed yesterday. It appeared the hummingbird lingered longer than usual and drank more.
This bird is green with a red throat.
