Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/22/2010

Number: 200

There is a row of bushes in my next door neighbor's yard and it is covered in monarchs. There are hundreds of them roosting in the bush and dozens of them roosting in another neighbor's tree. They're clinging to the bush and tree despite large wind gusts. Once in awhile something will startle them and they'll fly around, but then will settle on the bush again.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
