Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/22/2010

Number: 1

We have 2 hummingbird feeders attached to our deck. We often spot up to 5 or more ruby throated humming birds. Today we saw two of the handsome males about 4 females. One of the males appears to be a little smaller than the other.

One of the cute birds will pearch on top of a feeder or deck chair and chase off any of the other birds. Occassionally 2 birds can feed for awhile at one feeder before one chases the other off.

Our little visitors just make me smile when I see them come to visit. I can see them from my kitchen table and then get closer as I move to the sunroom where one of the feeders is just a couple of feet from the window. Occassionally one will fly towards the window and just hoover as to say, "Thank you". In the last couple of weeks, we have had to refill the feeders so much more often than earlier in the summer. I believe more are being attracted.
