Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/25/2010

Number: 1

The Ruby Throated Hummingbirds are engaged in battle. They are constantly chasing each other from the four feeders. Serious aerial warfare going on. Research recommended that we separate the feeders since it is more difficult for the birds to defend several feeders that are spaced apart than to defend feeder territory that is clustered closely together. Well, that didn't work. The battles continue. We are concerned that with all these aggressive engagements going on, the birds are not getting adequate nectar to fatten them up for the monental journey ahead of them. We have never wittnesed this type of extreme aggression
before.
