Today was a MONARCH DAY. My students noticed 3 monarchs fluttering about outside our window where I have planted a milkweed waystation. The funding for this was provided by a grant I wrote. The excitement grew greater as we realized that they were females monarchs laying eggs on the milkweed plants. I was the first student to notice the monarchs. Ms. Turner let us go outside and observe. it was awesome. the female put it's bottom underneath the leaf and deposited an egg. All 3 monarchs continured to do this for about 5-10 minutes. Ms. Turner said we were going to be late for lunch and I replied, "I don't care if i miss lunch this is so interesting! AFter lunch we counted about 30 eggs! My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
