Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/25/2010

Number: 25

Monarchs started to feed on the blazing star liatris on my boulevard on 8/14/10 (5-6 throughout the day). This is the first year that the boulevard plants were mature (planted last year). Today there were over 25 feeding -- all looked really healthy (no tattered wings, etc.). Found out there is a man about 2 blks away that has milkweed in yard and tending carefully to monarch larvae. I hope to be a stopping point in future years!! Based on my old address (3 yrs ago), they should be around for another 5-7 days. They tend to take flight during / end of Minnesota State Fair (ends Labor Day). Great website -- thx! My observation time: I was watching for 30 minutes.
