Gibbs Butterfly park has had an explosion of caterpillars this week. We now have over 1,000 feet of beds with over 1000 milkweed plants. It was a cold summer and we had local butterflies populating the park all year. Now there are more females and eggs and caterpillars. I have seen some battered butterflies maybe about one to three but most of our butterflies are fresh and bright. We are tagging and hae had 5 sightings. The furthest was tagged 8/2/10 at Gibbs and sighted in San Diego. Then tagged July 17th found in Santa Ana. The others tagged and found in Central Park and Gibbs Park the same day.
