Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/23/2010

Number: 2000

At my home the Monarchs started arriving 8/23/10. They have increased in numbers and we now have thousands flitting around during the day and roosting at night. Today is 8/26/10 and so far they are still with me. I can only assume they are gathering as part of their migration but this is a first for me. The butterflies were gone this morning 8/31/10 when we got up.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 2000 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “thousands.”
