Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/26/2010

Number: 1

Ruby throated hummingbirds arrived here on May 30th, 2010. At first there was one adult male and one adult female. In early July, there appeared to be several immature males and females in addition to the two adults. They were identifiable because of their ruffled look, and the indistinct colouring compared to the sleek, clearly defined colours of the adults. I have been filling two feeders up to 3 times a week, as they have been feeding constantly for the past month and a half. I saw the adult female at the feeder, watched by two of the youngsters who were sitting on the washing line watching. Today is cool, and there is less activity at the feeders.
