I saw a female hummingbird at the feeder, while about 3 feet away from it. She made no sound, had black striping on her throat, and a stickpin dot at the center base of her throat. Did not take note of rufous coloring at tail or I might be certain whether she was a Broadtail or a Rufous female. She made no 'whirr' sound, so I am leaning towards classifying her as a Broadtailed. We have had male Broadtailed hummingbirds at the feeder this summer.
