Much fewer Monarchs roosting this morning. On the order of about a hundred. Winds and storms tonight seem to have thinned out the group even further.
August 29
There were around a thousand Monarchs roosting in the afternoon. They were located in the same area as before: on some berry bushes in a grove of trees that shelters them from southern winds. Yesterday's winds were gusting to 30mph.
August 28
Perhaps a hundred or so Monarchs were roosting this morning, mostly on a berry tree in our backyard.
