I've been seeing a lot of monarchs the last two or three weeks. Before that I had been disappointed not to see very many. I've been letting cynanchum laeve (not sure of spelling) grow freely on our fence for about 3 years, spreading seeds and cutting out competing plants. This year it finally seems to be paying off in more monarch sightings. I also have some butterfly weed on which I've seen caterpillars this year. I'm letting my butterfly weed go to seed so it can spread.
