Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 08/29/2010

Number: 1

Sunday was hot 28 celcius and breezy. We were kayaking in the Fishing Islands, north west of Wiarton. At about 3 to 5 pm we saw so many monarchs, about one every minute, sometimes every 30 seconds. We counted over 100 in one hour, they are really fresh looking butterflies. If you want to see monarchs in migration, go to the Lake Huron shoreline.

We just returned from helping with a Monarch Teacher Workshop in Nova Scotia where there are so few monarchs. They will have more in the future, with some keen teachers ready to start planing more milkweed. My observation time: I was watching for 2 hours and ___ minutes.
