I have had many Monarchs in my yard this year, we see at least 10 - 15 a day. I also have had a lot of Monarch caterpillars which I don't often see. Quite a few have been eaten by bugs. Last year our trees were covered with Monarchs in Sept. We live near Point Pelee on Lake Erie so they stop for the night and then take of in the morning.
