Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/30/2010

Number: 10

4pm CST; sunny, windy, 90F. Looks like 1/2 of my delicate friends have moved on as today there are only 10 feediing on the liatris. Tonight we are supposed to have rain and temps dropping to low of mid 70's, high of mid 80's. Temps to drop consistently in mid 70's from Wed on. Will report what the change of temp does to those feeding. No tattered wings -- all look very healthy. A majority of today's butterflies look more petite than when we had 20-25 feeding; females? Next year there are plans to expand boulevard garden and we'll definitely be planting more liatris and see if milkweed can sustain the rough/tough city traffic. The monarchs are so amazing; one should never take their role in the ecosystem for granted! pm, minneapolis, mn My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and __15_ minutes.
