Practice Report (Any Species)

Date: 08/31/2010

Number: 1

Saw 5or6 what I believe to be whooping cranes sitting in the top of a pine tree beside our fire station. They sat there for about 2 to 3 minutes then flew away headed southeast. I attempted to get a picture of them but my cellphone camera would not focus quick enough. I would estimate the birds to have been between 3 1/2 to 4 feet tall with a huge wingspan, they were white with black bills and the end of their wings were black. This is this first time I have ever seen the birds, but they were unbelievable.
