Yes, there are Monarchs in Winnipeg! I said to a colleague today "Outside there is nothing but fat healthy 5th instars getting ready to pupate and Monarchs emerging and waiting to leave."
There were 3 adults in the yard this morning, nectaring and waiting for a favourable wind. Last week I could find a dozen large 5th instars without really looking, today it is half that.
