Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 08/29/2010

Number: 1

My wife and I collected 31 caterpillars today for school in less than 2 hours. We were surrounded by monarch butterflies at times. They were all over the place. I found one that had just hatched sitting next to its chrysalis. We then watered the monarch waystation. There were 12 monarchs nectaring on the zinnias in the waystation. We also tend another garden next to the school and there were 4 monarchs nectaring there. Monarchs have been flying all over the town throughout last week. If you drive to the store, you probably see 4 to 5 without even trying. It is a banner year in Northeastern Wisconsin.
