Yesterday, I observed several yellow swallowtails, red spotted purples, and spice bush swallowtails on our zinnias and tithonia torches. One lone female monarch was getting nectar from the zinnias. Several times this summer a male and two females would be spotted at the same time. Our tropical milkweed has so far yielded 55 monarch caterpillars that I put in a sanctuary where they pupated and emerged. Interestingly, there were 29 females and 26 males.
My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and __5_ minutes.
