A single hummer was nectaring on a blue-black salvia at 5:15 pm and an hour later I saw two more hummingbirds. One was sitting on the telephone wire above the garden and another was feeding on the salvia and honeysuckle plants in the garden.( The one on the wire dove down and chased away the feeding bird. It's every hummingbird for itself this time of year!) It was thundering and very warm and humid.
